ghosting: unkind, cowardly and ill mannered

Ghosting is the new word, made possible by cell phones, of blowing someone off by just blowing them off. You don't answer their emails. You screen their calls with your trusty smart phone telling you who is calling -- and you block someone you have decided to blow off, without talking to them once, which is only common decency, common civility.

What's the compassionate way to end a seven year friendship? It is not ghosting. Even if having a conversation seems hard, blowing someone off without telling them, out loud and ideally face to face, is a reflection of the thwarted development of the person doing the ghosting. It has nothing to do with the person being ghosted.

Someone you have shown care to deserves an old fashioned, face to face, talk in which, however stunted your maturity, you should suck it up and have that talk.  It is lacking in empathy, compassion and kindness to just screen someone's calls and block them on social media.

Fuck ghosting.  People who ghost are immature, unevolved souls projecting their damage and fear onto others.
